The Beaumont Police Department will be hosting a four hour Sex Offender Registration class. The class will be May 6, 2014 from 900 to 1300 hours in the Beaumont Police Department training classroom. The instructor will be Rueben Gamez from the Texas Department of Public Safety. This class will focus on how to collect information from sex offenders and to properly record that information on the SORB forms required by statute. It will also cover, offenses requiring registration, differences between registering adults vs juveniles, what information to collect and why, and how to maintain sex offender databases. Key personnel that should attend this training would be persons responsible for registering sex offenders in their communities and any all personnel who help log, register, or track sex offenders.
